Safety is not something we talk about once a year. It is something we actively build, improve, and live every day at Progressive Machining.
We completed our 2025 WSIB Health and Safety Excellence Program focus areas and continue to integrate them into our daily operations. With this work accomplished, we now transition into new safety priorities for 2026.
As part of our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, we are continuing our journey in the WSIB Health and Safety Excellence Program with support from our Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC). The JHSC plays an important role in identifying opportunities, supporting communication, and helping strengthen our overall safety culture across the organization.
WSIB states that the Health and Safety Excellence Program is designed to help employers build stronger health and safety systems through a structured approach to continuous improvement. The program emphasizes prevention, accountability, and employee engagement, helping organizations reduce workplace injuries and illnesses while building a stronger and more proactive safety culture.
In 2025, we built stronger systems and improved on-site safety management. Key actions included implementing Preventative Maintenance schedules and developing robust Contractor Management protocols. These initiatives reduced risk by improving equipment reliability and ensuring contractors meet our safety expectations.
With this foundation established, we will strengthen and expand our approach in 2026, focusing on areas that directly support our people on the floor.
Our focus for 2026 will be on energizing our emergency readiness. Together, we can build the confidence and skills needed to respond quickly when it matters most.
We will upgrade our first-aid kits, add new equipment, and install an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on site. These improvements will help us respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
Though we hope never to use these resources, true preparedness empowers us. Equipped with the right tools and the confidence to respond, we can make a critical difference when every second counts.
In addition to emergency preparedness, we are determined to strengthen our systems and build an even safer culture together. Every small step makes a positive impact.
We will refine reporting by providing clear guidelines, training, and regular reviews to ensure incidents, injuries, illnesses, and near misses are reported consistently. This approach enables us to identify trends sooner and take corrective action before issues escalate.
We will reinforce health and safety responsibilities throughout the organization to ensure everyone understands expectations at every level. Clear accountability strengthens a reliable safety culture.
We will strengthen incident investigation and analysis by improving how incidents are reviewed, documented, and assessed to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
We will focus on communication, ensuring we share safety information clearly and consistently with those who need it most.
Our participation in the WSIB Health and Safety Excellence Program reflects our commitment to continuous improvement. Safety is not static—it evolves as our workplace evolves.
We celebrate our progress and remain committed to building a safer, more prepared, and more connected workplace for everyone at Progressive Machining.
